How it finds the notes
1. Upload a melody
One line at a time works best — a hummed idea, a guitar riff, a vocal take, a synth lead. Everything is decoded and analysed on your own device.
2. Frame-by-frame pitch tracking
The audio is chopped into overlapping frames and each one is pitch-detected by autocorrelation. Frames that are silent or unpitched are skipped, not guessed.
3. Frames merge into notes
Consecutive frames landing on the same note are merged into one event, and anything shorter than 60 ms is dropped as detection jitter rather than printed as a note.

How do I find what notes a song plays?
Upload the audio here. The tool tracks pitch across the recording and converts each stable stretch into a named note with its timing. For a clean single-line melody it's usually close enough to play back straight away; for a full mix you'll want to isolate the part first.
Does it work on chords or a full song?
No — it's monophonic. Autocorrelation looks for one repeating cycle, so when several notes sound at once the strongest one wins and the rest are invisible. Feed it one instrument or voice at a time. For polyphonic material, Audio to MIDI is the better tool.
What does the cents column mean?
Cents measure how far the detected pitch sits from the nearest equal-tempered note, where 100 cents is one semitone. A reading of +18 means slightly sharp, -25 means noticeably flat. Anything within about ±10 sounds in tune to most ears; larger values suggest bends, vibrato, or an instrument that needs tuning.
Can I export this as MIDI?
Not from this page — it gives you note names and timings to read. If you need an actual MIDI file to drop into a DAW, use the Audio to MIDI tool, which handles polyphonic material and produces a downloadable MIDI file.
Why are some notes missing or repeated?
Missing notes are usually below the confidence threshold — too quiet, too breathy, or masked. Repeated ones happen when a held note wavers enough to cross a semitone boundary and come back. Legato passages where notes blur together are the hardest case for any frame-based tracker.
How long a recording can I analyse?
The first 45 seconds are analysed, which covers most melodies, riffs and vocal phrases. The on-screen list is capped at 120 notes for readability, and it tells you when there were more.
